According to the tenth Five-year Programmed of our country's economy, the development of container transport is regarded to be one of the most important developing projects. All the coastal harbors are enlarging their container handling capacity at about 20 per cent speeding up during these years, and most of the harbors give emphasis to constructing appropriate berths for the modern container ships. Thus how to enhance the working efficiency of the container wharfs to keep pace with the larger and larger import and export transportation capacity has become a key topic.This disquisition applies itself to exploit the management information system (MIS) of the container wharfs on the basis of in-depth analysis of the container wharfs' managing operation flow. The primary idea of this system is to using developed data acquisition technology to meet the demands of fast-reaction field operation's dispatching and to meet the general purpose of the container wharf management line.The first part of this article mainly introduces the current status and development trend at home and abroad in the container management line, as well as the current status and study significance of this topic. Then follows the analysis of the actual demand among the business line and the operation flows on which basis the author tries to provide the optimizing and reforming methods.The main part of this article is engaged upon the details of the MIS, in the third chapter implement the detailed system analyze and design, mainly complete how to design data flow chart, how to design E-R chart, how to choose the database tools, how to choose the exploit developing tools, how to define the develop standard constrain, especially emphasize construct the data dictionary.The fourth chapter according to data dictionary design and programming standard constrain complete the realization of the system in detail.
