In traditional computer vision, 3D object is projected into 2D image. Because depth information is lost, 3D object reconstructed is not unique. Depth image brings forth great influence on information processing technique in the field of computer vision and cause vision concept to enter the 3D non-contact measuring domain.The purpose of 3D depth mapping technology is obtaining the depth information. It can achieve 3D measuring by obtaining the depth information of 3D object .In the whole bag of tricks of 3D depth mapping technology, structured light method take advantage of resolution and speed.In the paper, a new method obtains the depth information by color-encoded is introduced. This kind of method is creating a color-encoded pattern by software on a computer screen first. Then it is projected on a white object by a novel digital light processing technology. The image is captured by a color CCD camera. The depth information of the 3D object is obtained by color decoding. The color-encoded method applied in the 3D measuring system can gather full-frame 3D depth data at pick-up camera's frame rate. It is of high speed,efficiency and resolution. This method can obtain the depth information of 3D object by one image. The speed of obtaining the 3D information only lies on the pick-up camera's frame rate. There is no locomotive part or rotary part in the measuring system and the mechanism structure is simple. The color-encoded pattern is created by software, then projected on an object by digital light processing. It is not using linear filter and the optical system relative. The system structure is more simple,more reliable and easy to come true.In the paper, Matlab is used to design the calibrating software.
