This paper implements a 3D measuring system, which is composed of a CCD camera and a projector; it can scan one face of an object in a short time. Besides the system developed, there are two related key technology we had research.Camera and projector calibration for the 3D measuring system lay the foundation for measuring. This paper presented steps to compute the inner and outer parameters in detail. To improve the efficiency, the automatic calibration methods were proposed. Especially for the M-arrays decoding process, the data fuzzy clustering method and automation feature points detection were combined to determine the correspondences. As a result, the coordinates of all the proper and non-redundant feature points were given automatically, as well as the row and the column numbers of these corners. Experimental results demonstrate that this method is effective for solving the corner detection and correspondence problem in the course of projector calibration.Structured light coded pattern design is also important for the system. In this paper, with the classification of all the coded patterns, their advantages and disadvantages were presented, two kinds of patterns were applied in our system. Gray Code and Line Shifting were one of them for its high precision and easy realization; multilevel Gray code based on color was the other because of the fewer pattern number. Then recorded these coded images and decoded them for the decoded points triangulating, finally the objects 3D information can be obtained. In the experiment, this system can measure the object about the size of 0.5m3, and the result was in accordance with the design expectation.
