Diode-pumped(LD) all-solid-state Nd:YAG ultraviolet lasers have become a central of focus in the field of lasers due to their many advantages such as high efficiency, compactness, high stability, and long lifetime. They are widely used in the field of industry, scientific research, medical treatment, military etc. This dissertation presents results of theoretical and experimental researches on lasers based on LD pumped Nd:YAG ultraviolet laser by the extracavity frequency conversion. The contents can be outlined as follows:1. The history and development of diode-pumped solid-state ultraviolet lasers are reviewed, the characteristics and various laser materials used in diode pumped solid-state(DPSL)are described, and the main approaches and new results of ultra-violet lasers with diode-pumped at present are summarized.2. A theoretical analysis and numerical simulation considering pumping beam waist, Q-switch, cavity design are presented. Combine with the theoretical analysis and the request of fundamental wave, the appropriate cavity and Q-switch are chosen.3. Introduced the principle of phase-match and the optics characters of KTP,LBO and other nonliner crystrals, Demonstrate the optimal focusing conditions. Based on a detailed analysis, KTP and LBO are selected as SHG and THG cystal, respectively.4. Combined with front analysis, both extracavity and intracavity frequency tripling have been designed. Through changing the cavity form and crystal positions, different power ultravoilot output are obtained. Extracavity THG. When KTP and LBO are all placed extracavity, 450nW 355nm ultraviolet light is obtained, with the pulse repetitive frequency being 3.5kHz. When KTP is located intracavity and, however, LBO is placed extracavity, 300mW ultraviolet is obtained.Figure"V"cavity THG.. When KTP and LBO are located in two arms respectively, 547mw 355nm ultraviolet light output is obtaind, with the pulse repetitive frequency being 3.5KHz. Changing the direction of output, the output power is 380mW. When KTP and LBO are located only in the same arm, 585mw 355nm ultraviolet light output is obtaind. Similarly,Changing the direction of output, the...
