The measuring department must do calibration for indicating instruments to make sure whether it is up to grade. Presently the complicated process of calibrating indicating instruments is done by professional operator, which takes more time and only gets poor precision. How to resolve the problem is the question that takes measuring department more and more concern. In this paper, a kind of calibration technology for indicating instruments which based on the machine vision method is dissertate. Using the Charge Coupled Device(CCD), and image process as well as image identify technology to achieve the aim that calibrating the indicating instruments automaticly.This paper discussed the method to looking for the position of indicating pointer and long length graduation which belong to the electromagnetical style indicating instrument. Using the digital image process and image identify theory. Also this paper refer to the process of calibrating the power instrument. In the paper you can see the structure form for this working device. It analyses and studies the operating method in image processing area, including image division, image filter, picking up edge point, drawing up line and getting the distance of parallel lines. And talking to pretreatment of image, it adopts the methods including projection arithmetic, difference arithmetic, and Hough transform. After all have done we could get the equation of indicating pointer and long length graduation. And then calculate the distance between the two lines to estimate whether the two lines are superposition under a given threshold. If not superposition the computer will drive the standard power station to a suitable value and estimate again until being superposition. That's the whole calibration process.I have improved the structure of horizontal platform on which indicating instrument placed in order to solve the problem the original platform got smaller rundistance. I also improved the light to be changeable so that the system could got more appropriate lum that could provide different style indicating instruments calibrating.
