These years computer vision has made great progress,video surveillance is an important means to replace human surveillance,video surveillance has been widely applied to traffic manage,industry producing,and national defense security,etc.This paper aims to recognize the pointer instruments and digital instruments.Although a great amounts of work has been done on this aspect and some great achievements are gained,due to the various styles of the pointer instruments themselves,none of existing methods are universally suitable to all of th em.Therefore,according to the characteristics of the experimental instruments,this thesis proposes some practical methods and viewpoints,and gets the anticipated goals.Experimental instrument information specialty is common pointer instrument in the laboratory equipment.This thesis contains two main parts: recognizing pointer voltmeters and pointer current meters,recognizing digital instruments.Besides,an over-limit alarm module is developed.Those methods referring to pointer instruments are as bellows: Otsu and Bernsen are combined together for binarization;The precondition of image segmentation is extracting the connected regions,we apply the marking algorithm based on stroke,then extract the dials according to the characteristics of dials,and finally separate the dials and scales from the original images;The revised angle method is used to recognize the final results.We give some future research directions to improve the distance method.Methods about digital instruments are as following: Binarization is realized by combining fuzzy algorithms and intelligent algorithms;For the segmentation,the Sobel Operator is used to detect edges,then the color point pair based searching method is adopted to recognize the objective regions,and finally digitals are segmented by the projecting method;The threading method is used for digital recognition,considering the characteristics of digital instruments,it is more convenient to process the decimal point.The over-limit alarm module uses ZigBee for wireless transition,and decides whether to alarm by comparing the sampled data with the preset values.This thesis completes the expected goals,proposes some convenient and tractable methods according to some unique characteristics of different kinds of instruments,and also gives some viewpoints in terms of those common properties of different kinds of instruments.So our work has reference values practically and theoretically.
