With the rapid development of the wireless sensor network (WSN), a series of new applications have come into being, because of which challenges in designing appear. The characters of its flexibility and self-organizing put solid foundation for its vast application backgrounds. Because the nodes in WSN are powered by batteries, which have limited power energy, the techniques of making good use of the energy is one of its focuses in designing and applications. This paper did some exploring researches on the energy-aware route protocol of the wireless sensor network with the aid of the"Wearable computing network technique"project. A new energy-save route protocol is brought forth and implemented. The characters and constraints of the wireless sensor network are studied firstly, and the methods of the energy-aware and energy-save route protocols in WSN are researched carefully. We found that the energy consumption of nodes varies with wireless transferring radius, which were not put into consideration during the existed energy-save and energy-aware route protocols in WSN. This specific view becomes the tip of our designing; the energy consumption has great relation with the RF module, which is breakpoint of the EBRA (Energy-based Radius Self-adjust Wireless Sensor Network Protocol). Based on the facts between the energy consuming and the RF transferring radius, the EBRA protocol is designed and implemented under the Visual C++ 6.0 IDE, which switches its running mode with the energy consuming of nodes, so that meet the goal of energy saving of the nodes in WSN.In order to evaluate the EBRA protocol performance, the simulation of the protocol is done in the OPNET Modeler environment. The performance of energy saving critic, such as end to end delay, data dropped and throughput is compared with similar simulation scenes, from which the advantages and disadvantages of the EBRA protocol is discussed. The inventiveness of this paper lies in its new point of designing view, and the exploring works in it. Keywords Wireless Sensor Network; Energy-aware; Radius-adaptive...
