Archives is a science and cultural institution which keeps files forever. It is a centre to provide information for social service. Each archives is responsible for managing, studying and providing files. So it plays a very important role in preserving the completeness and safety of files. And in the long term development, the archives in our country has formed a set of management patterns However, as the development of society, the traditional archives' work has faced many new problems and new challenges, especially in this information age. Therefore, the archives should adjust to the change of society and make efficient reformations on its own accord. This paper is trying to investigate the problems appeared in reformation of archives and find the efficient methods of reformation.The paper can be divided into three parts:The first part is to analyze the feasibility and necessity of archives' reformation. The traditional way of archives' management and the experience of new China has provided a good foundation of archives' reformation. The rapid development of economy and science has given important guarantee for reformation. The increase of the citizens' awareness has supplied good surroundings for reformation. All those things decides the feasibility of archives' reformation. The basic controdiction in archives' work lies in the standard of archives' management and the demand of society for archives. The theoretical basis for present archives' work is still not very firm. Moreover the practice of archives' work is not efficient. All those leads to the necessity of reformation.The second part is the body part of this paper. It focuses on the problems and methods in the archives' reformation.
