Research Of The Optical ADD And DROP Multiplexer (OADM) Based On The Acousto-Optic Tunable Filter (AOTF)

Optical network based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology has become the trend of the next network development. Aimed at the development of optical network, various equipment manufacturers and standard organizations proposed many suggestions to realize the advantage of interconnection of optical network and show its flexibility, expandability, multi-operation, multi-viability and economy. These are all based on the realization of optical cross-connect nodes. It can be seen that OADM and OXC play an important role in optical network in the future. The system architecture of optical node influences the structure and development of the whole optical network.In this thesis, systemic architecture of OADM node based on AOTF has been designed concretely for the metropolitan area network (MAN) application. The main function modules are presented after the analyses of network environment, followed by the more detailed design and analysis, respectively.
