An Approach To Improve Accuracy Of Intrusion Detection Evaluation

With the recent academically comprehensive and scientific research on the intrusion detection systems (IDS), various commercial IDSes have boomed up in the market, each of which claimed that it had many advantages and was preferable one. How to distinguish those claims and be aware of the hidden truth becomes a pressing issue.This thesis mainly focuses on how to improve the conventional approaches and compose a better one. The receiver operating characteristics (ROC) technique is shortcoming-prune in nature despites its advantages. The detection error tradeoff (DET) technique, the improved one, is unable to make full use of information obtained from the result data.
