Nowadays embedded application of technology expands quickly to many fields.Embeded technology also gets very great development among which the development of embedded operating system is very outstanding, Some excellent embedded operating system with open source codes has appeared. The combination of embedded technology and video technology realized embedded video supervision, This is an application aspect of embedded technology.This paper introduces domestic and oversea general situation of embedded video supervising system, image transmission based on network, domestic and oversea development situation of embedded operation, basic conception of image compression. Detailed discuss the devising process of a video supervising system based on embedded ARMLinux system, All the platform system devising adopt system structure of majority embedded system device development. The devising route is from up to down, that is, first of all, devising system, secondly, dividing task and writing task flowchart, finally, completing programmes.This paper studies key skill of image collection based on linux, analyzing various methods, putting forward the method of image collection, and aim at data quantity largely in image transmission, research the encoding and decoding of MPEG-4, and deeply research relating protocol of image transmission, putting forward video data transmission protocol that is fit for the system, aim at limited resource of embedded system, reduce TCP/IP protocol, finally, study the skill of reconstruction and show of image, aiming at the system, putting forward related skill of realization.This paper realizes video supervising system based on network, adopting overlay mode in image collection, realize consecutive collection of image data, aiming at large data quantity of image, adopt UDP protocol, the method is realized by socket program of linux. Aiming at image show, adopt GDI MiniGUI, realize dynamic show of image.Finally, from the result of tests, the real time performance can satisfy actual request, this system adopt C/S mode, All the server adopts embedded operation system, The embedded server is small, compared with a normal PC, The system equips with Ethernet interface, so anywhere if Ethernet exists, you can access through the system network interface, install client software in the client PC, you can supervise the location, realizing immediately access, immediately supervise.
