Focusing on the particular applications in LAN and researching the prevailing network video monitoring systems comparatively, this essay primarily analyzes each function module and the video data transferring policy of the Ethernet-oriented video monitoring system. And according to the network performance of Ethernet, a novel, principal and subordinate video monitoring system is proposed, which is connected by Ethernet among all interior equipments composed of an embedded video server and several live monitoring points. In this way, the system of integration is enhanced efficiently. Furthermore, a software framework of the embedded video server is designed and implemented.The integral model of the monitoring system is: video and control data are transferred effectively among the embedded video server, the live monitoring point and the browser of users, which is completed by several Internet communications protocols based on Ethernet. In this mode, video data is encapsulated by RTP/UDP/IP mode to balance real-time request and QoS guarantee of the system, control data is encapsulated by HTTP/TCP/IP mode to achieve flexible interactive ability of B/S framework and accessing safely.ARM7 and uClinux technologies are adopted to design the live monitoring point, primarily achieving M-JPEG video coding module and video data dispatch-transfer module to response to control information of the video server and transfer RTP data-flow to the video server.ARM9 and Armlinux technologies are adopted to implement the kernel of the bottom hardware and the bottom OS of the video server, and construct the application software system over both. In the design of the interactive ability of the B/S framework, CGI technology and mSQL database are used to implement accessing safely and process each TCP control information connected to the server; In video transferring, video data encapsulated by RTP/UDP/IP mode are received and transmitted simultaneously by multi-process design, which satisfies the real-time request of the system and enhances processing rate of the whole system.The scheme proposed in this thesis simplifies hardware request of the system equipments, and designs clear software modules. As a result, the scheme provides valuable theory in reference to the design of small-scale application video monitoring system.
