Research And Implementation Of A General Reporting System

Most of the reporting systems currently implemented in most companies are closely related with platforms and the business logic, with high complexity in updating and maintenance. In addition, most of the implemented reporting system has close tie with the corporate application platform and the corporate business process logic, resulting in complex maintenance work and poor maintainability. A corporate hopes to have such a reporting system: easy to develop, maintain, flexible to adapt report requirement variability, easy to migrate and integrate with the prevailing system.. "General reporting system" study has thus emerged under such needs, through the implementation of the general reporting system, it releases the productivity of the report developer, lowered the cost a corporate spent on report development maintenance, and compared against the traditional report development tools, it is a revolution of report design.The target of traditional report development tools is to realize the western simple report structure, use a line to box structure, simple grouping to perform report design. This kind of techniques cannot adapt the complex report requirement in China, and resulted in the maintenance difficulties in the report application program. The author has designed and developed a "General reporting system", stated a design approach which makes independent of the business logic of the report from report processing, and made it to a tailor-made part to realize report calculation, manual control calculation strategy and calculation process, and realize "generalization". At the same time, it establishes the report template using the grid frame, irregular grouping basis, and it adapted the complex requirement of report application.In the report generalization theory, independent business process logic of the report, grid frame report format structure, irregular grouping display data are the new innovations of the study. Based on this study theory, completely realized the main target of the user defined business calculation logic of the report, the author organized the subject team and project team which have accomplished the general report system development. Through overcoming the difficult issues during implementation stage, report generalization theory has been well implemented, and experienced expected results from many corporate implementations.Application of "generalization" of the reporting system reduces the complexity in the development and improves the maintainability and portability of MIS, builds an integrated platform, It may convenient to fit together with different types of MIS ,It improving the processing methods and solving the problem such as updating, it improved the work efficiency of the report development maintenance. Through the practice of improving design and development, the design approach of report generalization has been well applied.
