| Workflow technology is the key technology for enterprise business process modeling, process management and process automatization. With the development of information technology and the popularization of computer application, more and more people focus on Workflow technology. And workflow modeling is one of the top hot subjects related to Workflow technology.The biggest difference between Workflow model and business model is the former must integrate information system. As an important object-oriented modeling language, UML (Unified Modeling Language) has been used in information system modeling often. And many academicians apply UML into business modeling. This thesis based on the application of UML in modeling makes deep study and practice of applying UML in workflow modeling. And finally, design and implement tool WPMod (Workflow Process Modeling) .The main content of this thesis are as follows:Firstly, introduce the basis, background and aim of this article research, summarize the origin and research trend of workflow technology. Secondly, introduce the workflow reference model of WFMC (Workflow Management Coalition) and the modified workflow reference model of JB. And then have a deep theoretic study on how to extend UML activity diagram to model workflow after analyzing the shortcoming of UML activity modeling. Basing on the JB modified workflow process meta-model, extend UML activity diagram by adding some new stereotypes such as organization model, data model, process model, OR connector, fun_element, dat_element etc. And extract the organizational element responsible for the activity of process from the swim lane and make org_element for it. Finally, discuss how to design and implement WPMod. It adopts GUI to create, modify and save workflow process, which is easy to understand and use for users. In the end, the workflow process will be save as XML (Extensible Markup Language) type file, which was defined by EXPDL (Extended XML Process Definition Language) . |
