Currently, wireless MAN(802.16) becomes one of the hottest wireless networking technology. Voice communications, as the most important service in recent communication networks, should be supported in 802.16 networks. The research work of this thesis is focused on designing a signaling system to provide voice communications with QoS supported in 802.16 networks.IP networks provide "best effort" services, a signaling system is needed in IP netwoks for higher QoS supported in IP networks. The signaling systems used in recent telegraphic are so complicated that could not be used in 802.16 networks. In the second part of this thesis, we discuss the control plane of the 802.16d MAC layer, and then we introduce the call relay signaling system and its messages format which we design. With adopting the Resource Reservation, authentication, channel allocation schemes, this call relay signaling system guarantees the QoS of the voice communications in 802.16 networks.According to the principles of low coupling, seperation of the control panel and data panel, we finished the module partition of this system. The third part of this thesis summarizes the practical system implementation of this system, and introduces the data structures and algorithmic flows of modules which are designed and developed by the author. Then we design a experiment network and develop a VoIP application based on the RTP open source, testing this signaling system.
