Wireless LAN is widely deployed in hotspots in public locations, business corporations, home and many fields for its convenience and efficiency. It just changing the traditional ways of working, studying and make it available to achieve high quality of voice, data and multimedia services any time at any place. As more wireless networks were deployed, the need to secure them increases. But the present security problems might become the development obstacle of WLAN because of the opening radio transmission.Although WLAN is so attractive .However, it also easier for attackers to mount an attack, Rogue access points and unauthorized access, poorly secured networks compound the odds of a security breach. Most WLAN based on 802.11 serial standard which issue security problems as it growing. This paper addresses the security concerns raised by both current and upcoming 802.11 network technologies and focuses on the risk issues from a corporate network perspective, these same issues apply to home networks, telecommuters using wireless, and public use networks , and do an in-depth analyze on the mechanism of the 802.11 security protocols(such as WEP and WPA), point out their flaws, and present some attacking ways major elements by means of the design flaws in the protocols, and then propose some usefull practices to secure our WLAN. Even organizations without internal wireless networks must take wireless into account as part of their overall security practices.
