The dissertation analyzes and studies the security mechanism and the related technologies in 802. 11 protocol from two points of view including security authentication and Encryption technologies.First of all, the dissertation introduces the related knowledge of WLAN base on IEEE 802.11 protocol as well as the domestic and international current development situation of security mechanism and related technologies in 802. 11 protocol.It analyzes various threats which exist in the mobile communication systems of WLAN and it introduces the major solutions to solve the security problems in WLAN.Moreover, the dissertation describes the security functions in detail, including the encryption flow and the decryption flow of WEP, TKIP, and CCMP, analyzes and studies the security characteristics of these encryption functions in detail. Furthermore, it makes a further exploration on security authentication in the 802. 11 protocol, also it introduces the flow of open system authentication and shared key authentication, with analysis on the security characteristics of these two authentications and a focus on the theory, flow of 4-Way handshake and its security characteristics.The emphasis of this dissertation focuses on the IEEE 802.1x protocol, EAP protocol and its security characteristics. Particularly, it makes a further exploration and analysis on the EAP-TLS authentication method with the higher security at the present time.
