Since the 1990s, with the economic and social development, China's culture and entertainment news also made a big leap.Yet, what kind of changes have occurred in the form and content of culture and entertainment news? Have the writing methods of culture and entertainment news suited to the needs of the mass? This article makes the Shanghai International Film Festival (hereinafter referred to as SIFF) coverage as its subject and the analysis of the content as the main research method to explore the questions raised above and to look forward to giving a view to improvements in the coverage of culture and entertainment news. The study found that during the thirteen years, SIFF coverage has made great progress-SIFF reports faded from front pages and turned into culture and entertainment edition, which reflects the professionalization of culture and entertainment news operation; the number of SIFF news has risen obviously and most of the them has written by the reporters themselves; news photographs are used more frequently. But at the same time, there are a lot of aspects needed to improve-the style of short Evening news has been adhered too rigidly; negative reports are lack of construction; editors and reporters do not pay sufficient attention to in-depth reports, comments and other important forms; reports about gorgeous stars has squeezed other kinds of reports, etc. In addition, the promising SIFF news also has much place to improve in the title, lead, as well as structure.
