The library is one of three main supports for the university. As the base for the cultivation of educated people and the scientific research, the university's library should demonstrate its scientific and social values through its diversified documents, abundant books and materials and various perfect services. Identity is one of most undeniable factors for the organizational development in the 21th century. At present, both the competitions among profit-pursuing organizations and that among non-profit organizations, are increasingly focusing on the identity's competition. Identity has become most important, which shakes the traditional organizational development's strategies. Therefore, it's become unprecedented urgent for the university's library to carry out its identity establishment and management.This research adopted the service structure mode of the university's library, and did the subject's analysis and the exploring factors' analysis through the pre-questionnaires among 102 students in Southwest University. On the basis of it, the formal questionnaires were formed. Then we carried the research in the Southwest University, Chongqing University, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Chongqing Normal University and Chongqing Education College.765out of 1000 questionnaire were available. We had the second analysis of the exploring factors, credibility test, descript ional statistic, x~2 test, analysis of variance, and so on. The results showed that:(1) The service identity of the university's library was an organic multi-dimensional and multi-factor system, which could be defined through three dimensions of subject, object and the relations between them. Each dimension was formed by four factors: service attitude, service time, service space, and service consciousness.
