The Research And Design Of Component-Based Technology Online Examination System

Examination is an indispensable link in a teaching activity. The non-paper examination has been carried out to replace the way the traditional manual examination with computer technology, which is an active research field in computer technology in recent years. Computer-aided examination can ease teachers' labor in the link of tests, such as drawing up tests, grading papers and analyzing results, etc. Thus it will reduce the subjective factors in the links of tests and can set teachers free from the hard work by organizing examination more quickly, more objectively and more safely. Because of its promoting effects in improving teaching quality and efficiency, the computer-aided examination system has been widely used in all kinds of examinations.With the development and spread of computer science and network technology, the application of computer-based tests are becoming more and more popular, and there are more and more types and forms of tests. We put forward the topic of researching and developing Online Exam System based on modules in order to adapt to the variety of tests.The paper mainly discusses the research significance, major contents and application prospects of the test system, this paper states the theories and relevant technology used in system. From the point of view of the developing molds of information system, it introduces the concept, characteristics of component and the system, working flow of Sybase's EAServer and also the characteristics and application of Web application server PowerDynamo as well as component transaction server Jaguar CTS in EAServer. It analyzes and designs in detail the general structure and the functions of subsystem of Online Examination System based on component. It illustrates in a systematic way how to use PowerBuilder8.0 to develop EAServer component and how to dispose it to Jaguar server, then use the component in Jaguar server through PowerDynamo's responding to the requirements from clients, and return the executive results to the clients. As a result, we realize the whole process of the application of Web database of Online Examination System based on component technology. We mainlyintroduced the designs and realizing methods of student online test sub-system, teacher management sub-system and administrator sub-system the 3 sub-systems among the system.
