Of all the Building Automation Systems (BAS), heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems are most important from the viewpoint of saving energy and improving the quality of the indoor environment. Therefore, adopting efficient control strategies for air-conditioning plays a vital role in developing improved energy management control (EMC) systems of intelligent buildings (IB). Nowadays, The Variable Air Volume (VAV) air-conditioning system has gradually become most popular in China and abroad because of its significant energy saving. VAV air-conditioning system can not be controlled effectively by traditional PID ,for which have the characters of non-linear, time varying and frequently changing of hot or loads. This dissertation proposes the fuzzy adaptive control scheme based on reference model by the study of the fuzzy control and model reference adaptive control. This dissertation obtains a reference model with engineering methods, and makes use of fuzzy controller to revise parameters of PI controller timely, so as to the output of controlled object following the output of reference model. The model of frequencyconversion blower--windhole static pressure loop inVAV air conditioning system isgot by the step response experience. Then under the MATLAB environment, author has done system simulation experiments by altering given value, changing controlled object characteristic and adding random disturbance. The simulation results satisfy the demands of control and validate the feasibility of model reference fuzzy adaptive control scheme, which lay the ground work for future engineering practice.
