Contemporary Integrated Manufacturing System (CIMS) in Petrochemical Industry is an integrated automation system consisting of process control and enterprise management. It is the direction of automation system in Petrochemical Industry. Based on computer technology, network technology, control technology and optimization management, etc, applications in CIMS could have worked together, sharing the manufacturing and management information in enterprise, which may simplify the management process and make the enterprise more effective and competitive. However, there are some defects in the development of CIMS. For example, different applications are designed separately, so that their models are distinctive and information integration is difficult. By studying ontology, this thesis models the material flow in petrochemical industry, which could be used as general basic model for different applications in CIMS. Furthermore, the development and integrated environment of CIMS are also discussed in detail. The main works are as follows:1. A survey on component and architecture of CIMS is presented, and drawbacks of its development are also discussed.2. Based on the analysis of characteristics of manufacturing process in petrochemical industry, Material Flow Model is proposed. Many advantages of CIMS application maybe achieved based on it.3. A survey on ontology study is described, and the superiority of building Material Flow Model based on ontology is studied. Then the construction of Material Flow Model is presented in detail.4. The development of CIMS based on Material Flow Model is introduced. Integrated Environment of CIMS and Data Integration Platform are also discussed.5. Take the Process Simulation and Data Reconciliation, the two importantapplications in CIMS as examples to show the implementing process based onMaterial Flow Model. 6. The principal and process of cost management in petrochemical enterprise areintroduced. The application of cost management system is presented according toa practical experience.The thesis is concluded with a summary and series of vistas of future research of Material Flow Model and integration of CIMS in petrochemical industry.
