The embedded system is a special-purpose computer system which meets the particular requirement and has strict requirements for the function, dependability, cost, volume and consumption. The hydrology data collecting system offers prompt water and rain information for the flood prevention, but the data transmission has unstable phenomena and influences the quality of predicting. The embedded system based on ARM can interconnected with the network and it is stable. Using embedded system in the hydrology data collecting can achieve the data transmission based on network, realize that monitors the rainfall, water level real-timely online, so improve automation level of predicting system.The paper studies basic theory of the embedded system, analyses technique of ARM, such as structure, introduces system, operation system, exploit software then gives a scheme on ARM embedded system. This paper analyses collection, memory, transmission and data security of hydrology data, introduce in detail the design of the ARM embedded system, realizes the transplant of μC/OS-Ⅱ operation system and TCP/IP, PPP, SDI-12 protocol.In order to implement embedded system, this paper researches on the essential technology and has carried on the experiment.. Manufacture the experimental board, uses S3C44BOX microprocessor which has ARM7 kernel, the board has RAM and the ROM memory, the serial interface, the network connection, the LCD connection and so on.Succeeded transplants μC/OS- Ⅱ on the board.Succeeded implements the FAT16 filing system, the filing system has provided the unified programming connection to the upper formation application procedure, has shielded the first floor implement detail, thus might facilitate the application procedure development and the data exchange.Succeeded implements ARP, ICMP, IP, the UDP protocol, connects the network, transmission data through network.The embedded hydrology data collecting system developing technology discussed in the paper is suitable for other projects development, and has the important reference value to other embedded application system development.
