Time-delay system is the important field for the application of the control theory. Inthis paper, intelligent control for time-delay system is introduced in order to increase therobustness of the general time-delay control system. Firstly, it is presented in this paper acomprehensive optimization design and emulation analysis method of the fuzzy controller.The method based on GA. This paper analyzes the dynamic performance of time-delay,discusses the insufficiency of some general control schemes for time-delay. Smith controlleris a kind of compensation control based on plant model, but it is sensitive to the variance ofparameter. Fuzzy control does not require accurate plant model, but it can not be directlyapplied for time-delay system. Therefore, this paper presents some new fuzzy adaptiveapproaches to time-delay systems, which combines fuzzy control and Smith control. Theresult of simulation shows that the designed fuzzy adaptive controller and sliding modecontroller are effective. A rule self-adjustable fuzzy controller is presented to change the fuzzycontrol rules on-line which can not be changed in common fuzzy controller. The use of thiscontroller makes the performance of system improved greatly. Furthermore, a type ofself-adaptive fuzzy controller based on single neuron is designed to adjust fuzzy control rulesaccording to the system's desired performance. The results of simulations show that theeffects of these three intelligent controllers are all far better than that of PID control, and thedynamic and steady performances of the later two controllers are better than the commonfuzzy control.
