Grid is the 21st century emerging internet-based infrastructure which aims at controllable and dynamic resource sharing. With high speed internet, high performance computers, databases and sensors connected together, by virtue of open and service-oriented architecture, it can integrate resource islands and provide one-click-is-enough or on-demand services for users. Resources involved in Grid are not limited to various physical entities;some virtual logical entities such as knowledge and expert resources are also components of Grid.Based on grid technology and web services, Open Grid Services Architecutre (OGSA) is now the popular and defacto standard for grid development and applications. It gives emphasis to location transparency and multiple protocol bindings for service instances, supports integration of the underlying native platform facilities. The birth of OGSA indicates that Grid can not only be used in complex and large-scale scientific computing, it can also provide wide and fundamental grid environment for various commercial applications which focus on secure information sharing and interaction. An ideal grid service should be similar with the current web service and provide totally transparent computing environment for users by shielding the heterogeneity of hardware and software platforms. At present, studies on Grid are still proceeding, but some involved technologies have already entered into the development stage. This thesis mainly focuses on OGSA and its core technologies, the contents are organized as follow: Firstly, the running mechanism of OGSA is described in detail and meanwhile its service-oriented model is analyzed;Secondly, the realization of grid service interfaces and operating mechanism of OGSA such as Factory, Lifecycle,HandleMap,Service Data,Notification are elaborated on;Thirdly, the key components of grid service are analyzed based on its reference implementation-Globus Toolkit; Finally, a Grid environment, in simple management domain is constructed with GT3, the mechanism and method of its implementation are introduced from all aspects;in addition, an OGSA application prototype system is developed which demonstrates the feasibility and superiority of OGSA in resource integration.
