Organic light emitting device (OLED) technology has become the most advanced display technology in the world and active matrix organized light emitted diode (AM-OLED) represents the newest trend of development. This provides significant benefits to the realization of active matrix displays for a number of commercial applications. This thesis reviews the technology of OLED in the display context as well as the business opportunities they enable and presents existing situation and orientation of research on this issue. In this thesis, through comparing present methods to realize the OLED display and analyzing the styles of achieving the gray-scale, a digital addressing scheme is put forward based on 4 Sub-frames. Then the driving system scheme is presented, and its sub-module and working process are also elaborated. In particular, Using LCD driver IC,a control circuit achieved by a FPGA device is introduced. The results of circuit simulation and test indicate that 16-level gray-scale can be generated. According to above precepts, adopting the digital addressing scheme based on 4 Sub-frames, a control circuit is designed in FPGA by HDL. Using driving IC-KS0796 and KS0794 and Getting moving picture data through DVI, 2-inch full-color OLED displaying with 120×(160×3) resolution is successfully obtained with good quality. In accordance with the practical development process, this thesis introduces the common method to achieve active display and elaborates driving system design aspects and gives emphasis to analyzing working process of driving circuit based on the sub-frame technology. The goal has been to provide a reference for the researchers and users who can make more contribution to development of the OLED display.
