In the early development of the display, the cathode ray tube (CRT) occupied the predominant position. Along with the technical development of science, the display technique has also been renewed to change the generation constantly. The flat panel display emerged with the tide of the times and gradually applied in each realm. There have been enormous academic interest and commercial investment in OLED due to the following properties: self-illumination, high speed reaction, no visual angle limitation, low power consumption. OLED will be produced for use in industrial instruments and meters, telecommunication devices, and computer terminals. Now there has been considerable development in the high stability and the driving circuits which can achieve the high quality display and dynamic display. However, the driving circuits are far from being mature.This thesis mainly discusses about the pixel driving for OLED, the choice of the driving chip and the research of the driving circuit for the OLED.In this dissertation, first of all, it takes a review of the concepts and theories describing the mechanisms of OLED, the principle and characters of the driving circuit for OLED. And AM (Active Matrix) drive technology is an important key that leads OLED development on large dimension and high resolution. According to the principle of the OLED, the suitable chips will be chosen for the AM-OLED, display device controlling program is compiled by Verilog HDL (Verilog Hardware Description Language), while the input signal A/D transform is realized through the SAA7113H. Nice images and real tune dynamic video are achieved by the FPGA simulation, which shows the driving circuit is feasible.Finally, some disadvantages of the driving circuit for OLED are supposed in this thesis.The whole project obeys the TOP-TO-DOWN design rule. We design the architecture of the whole system first, and then design the architecture of the sub module. After all the architectures had been determined we began to implement the modules. Through the simulation and analysis by FPGA, some reasonable creativities and optimization are introduced.
