In Recent years, the net and integrate circuit technology develop at very fast speed.It is possible to process data in using embedded device. The embedded device has manyvirtues, such as small volume, low power loss,digitization,convenient installment, lowprice, simultaneously the embedded equipment is easy to connect network for realizationlong-distance exchange data. This article realizes long-distance video monitoring usingthe network and embedded device. The camera gathering original video signal andconvert into the digital signal that is transferred to any computer through the local areanetwork, thus realizes the different place monitoring function. Now the main equipmentis one embedded computer that can link the local area network. It is responsible forreal-time gathering, compression and transmission picture data.The development board of ARM9 is used as our hardware platform, the OS uses theembedded Linux, and the picture-gathering equipment is USB camera with the 300000pixel .It can transfer data and preservation through the network. We realized onedigitized monitoring solution, the volume is small, and the cost is inexpensive. Thedevice has the widespread application value. It may use in the building, factory security,also may use in the gathering system of power system for real-time transmission wavedata.
