The embedded system is developing rapidly in the application of process monitoring and human-computer interface, but the delay of the corresponding software especially the configuration software, has restricted seriously the development of the embedded system. At present, the configuration software running on the embedded system is not sufficient, most of them running on WinCE, but according to statistics, more than 60% of the embedded system has adopted Linux System. So developing the configuration software based on Embedded Linux System will have good market prospects.At the beginning of this paper, the traditional configuration software, the embedded system and the embedded configuration software were introduced, then the goal and significance of this paper were presented. Subsequently, using Embedded Linux as design platform, Qt as design tool and object-oriented as design method, drawing lessons from the traditional configuration software and considering the difference between the embedded configuration software and the traditional configuration software, the general construction of embedded configuration software in Embedded Linux System was presented in this paper. It also constructed the development environment of Embedded Linux System which is the base for the development of configuration software. In this development environment, it successfully solved two key technologies of the whole configuration software—the design of Real-time Database and Interpreter, and thus a micro kernel structure formed by Real-time Database and Interpreter was set up. Using this kernel as the platform, other modular programs of this configuration software can be accomplished separately. So with different technology and methods the whole module can be finished at different time, the designer can determine the amount of the function module according to the need of the system.In this paper, a simulation test environment was established on the Linux Operating System, and the function of Real-time Database and Interpreter was tested in the environment, which reached the anticipated result. Finally, some limitations in the model and several research ways of perfecting this embedded configuration software were discussed.
