The miniature control system and on-chip detection for electrophoresis chip is the main topic in bio-chemical analysis system research area. The analysis system based on arrayed-electrode electrophoresis chip is one kind of μTAS(Micro Total Analysis Systems). It can control biochemical molecules and ions in electrical way. It is an integrative platform for biochemical analysis. The system integrated multiple functions such as injection, separation, detection and automatic operation etc.A new method of electric-control for operating microfluid and biochemical molecules accurately has been represented in many recent scientific researches. Arrayed electrodes integrated on microchip, as a good way to generate electric field, have been used widely. The dissertation includes theoretical design and the micro fabrication procedure of microfluidic channel by using an elastomeric materials — PDMS. Different types of PDMS-glass electrohphoresis chip were designed and produced. The chip can be connected to PCB (printed circuit board), then its control and detection system was developed. The control system was designed based on Micro Control Unit(MCU) c8051F020. 54 parallel ports for connecting high voltage system have been expanded. A novel I/O network was designed to control 54 Pt electrodes to switch discretionarily within 3 states-high voltage, ground and free state. The control system was, highly integrated, highly expansible and had low power consumption. It's also a good example of extending large numbers of parallel ports to control high voltage apparatus flexibly. The detection system was developed upon MSC1210. The detection precision improved greatly after using ratiometric method. The detection system has its own UI(User Interface) and can be used as a hand-held instrument. Some electrophoresis experiments were conducted on the chip. The results of the experiments demonstrated that the control system worked well with the chip. The impedance detection of electrophoresis separation indicated the detection system's ability of high precision d etection for so me s ample. Further r esearch o n t he s ystem can lead to portable bio-chemical analysis system.
