The Research Of Distance Education System Based On Web Services

The development of network technology provides a new field for distance education.The mordendistance education is a sort of web一based distance education.It brings some advantages into traditionalmode of distance education,with which learners can study anytime,anywhere.Now learners can takePart in online learning,online exam,online discussion,online query and online communication aswell,even at home.This instructional mode can provides learner with a rich and colorful interactiveinterface which is made of both images and texts,and with a huge repository of knowledge andinformation which can stimulate learners to learn;so that learners can construct knowledge dependingon their own initiatively and get,renew, even innovate knowledge by themselves,those aims belongs toour dreamboat.It is important to build a distance education system with distributed technology according to thecharacteristic of distance education. The System realizes the sharing and mutualness of educationresources. Current network technol-ogy provides education resources with the basic condition ofautonomy, sharing, and the cooperation of learning activities in low level. But the system will havesevere disadvantages in many aspects including platform-cross usage, dynamic distributed management,and automatic maintaince and so on if just applying traditio-nal technology, and will certainly bring lotsof trouble in maintaining and upgrading. Whereas introducing the Web services technology into thesystem can overcome these shortages.Web Services is a new development technology of internet application software. With usingvarious Web Services, people can customize freely programs which they need. Web Services use XMLas foundation language to realize loosely coupling different databases and OSs.In the paper, the feasibility and benefit of the application of Web Services in the modern distanceeducation system are introduced. At the same time, this paper also describes the system design,architecture, realization method and characteristic in detail.The system resolves the problems effectivelysuch as platform-cross using, dynamic distributed management, automatic maintaining etc, and thesystem reduces the development and maintenance expense. This will infuse new vigor into thedevelopment of distance education system.
