Research And Development Of On-line Teaching System For Long Distance Learning Based On PHP Language

Long Distance Learning (LDL) is an important symbol of information society and the new hot topic given much attention. It is one of the positive results of China education evolution and makes great contribution to the development of education all over the world. Based on computer media and network techniques, LDL acts as an alternative and flexible learning path for training high-qualified employees in the 21st century. At present, the forth generation of LDL has been developed, which, by the power of computer and network(LAN, Internet etc.) resource, provides users with the on-line support of training and information service in the mode of multimedia synchronously or asynchronously. LDL is not only the simple extension to traditional education, and the creation of successful LDL will not be triggered naturally by the use of digital techniques and network. The research and understanding of the training material and the users'requirements is necessary. Then, suitable techniques should be selected in order to improve user's flexibility of arranging study plan, improve the ability of gaining knowledge and technique from lectures'side and the sharing of other education resource. As a result, the main research in LDL include the suitable education theory, methods and strategy for LDL; lecture notes or training material for LDL; synchronous or asynchronous interactive activities and mutimedia communicationHowever, there are still many technical problems in the LDL, such as the characteristics and individuality of the users'system, transmission of files, data security and management of administrator. Those difficulties are presented frequently in the design and development of LDL. In the beginning, the research background for this study is introduced. The problems of transmission of files, data security and management of administrator described above are solved.In this study, the typical Apache+PHP+MySQL are selected as the development platform for the on-line teaching system.
