Design & Implementation Of A Handheld Self-Master Wireless Video Conference System

A new video conference system is discussed in this thesis.Its all functions are integrated in one embedded device,and a self-master system comes into being.So it can resolve the problem that outworkers can't attend the video conference on time resulting in works and decision-making can not be proceed successfully.In this paper,it is proposed how to implement a self-master wireless video conference system on the hardware platform based on Intel Xscale PXA270 microprocessor.The software platform is an embedded linux OS in which it adopts the graphical embedded Qt/Embedded development facilities and Qtopia desktop management system to realize the functions needed.The system is divided into 5 parts on hardware,including an Xscale PXA270 core processing module,a wireless interface module,a graphic data acquisition module,a audio processing module,and a LCD touch screen displaying module.On software it's composed of audio processing function,video processing function,audio and video synchronizing function,master managing function,audio and video data multicast function and human-machine interface.To implement the system,it need port the embedded linux OS,Qt/Embedded and Qtopia desktop management system into Intel PXA270 hardware platform at firstThen after learning the functions of the hardware,all the corresponding software functions are implemented on PC platform.At last the system is cross-compiled and ported to the Qtopia desktop management system.As a self-master video conference system,the user can choose to be a master who can start a meeting and wait for other participants' joining and manage the requests of join,speak and quit from the other participants,or attend an existed conference as a common participant.It needn't any extra devices' supports.All the function modules of the system will cooperate to share the audio and video data with other participants in order to achieve the gaol of the negotiation works as if on the spot selfly.Moreover,as a handheld device, the system can be taken at hand and is suitable for various occasions which have wireless network support.lt may have some application value and have good perspective on the market.
