Embedded System Design Of Network Video Surveillance Based On DSC21 And Streaming Media

Since the security requirement of life and working environment of people is increasing, the security system of buildings becomes more and more important. Surveillance system has become an important part of security system because of its intuitionist, convenient characteristic and abundant contents. The conventional surveillance projects with PC-based can' t meet the requirement of some applications because of their limitation. Currently, the embedded network video surveillance system has become a hot topic of this field.Under this background, this paper brings forward a hardware project based on TMS320C DSC21 to improve the conventional method. This project consists of data collection, data compression, data storing and data transmission. The Streaming Media technology is used in the data compression and transmission. The project has the merit of smaller size, lower cost and higher stability.The hardware requirement of surveillance system is analyzed firstly, then the project is brought forward based on DSC21, and the components of the hardware are studied. Furthermore, the data collection part is completed and MPEG-4 is used in the data compression part. The emphasis of this paper is to study the MPEG-4 and the communication between the two CPUs in DSC21, ARM and DSP, and the DSP and two coprocessors for the video compression. During the video encoding process, there are two coding types, which are Intra-frame and Inter-frame, using the methods of motion prediction, estimation and compensation. And data network transmission is completed on Streaming Media protocol.This paper aims to study embedded network video surveillance system in practical applications. The MPEG-4 standard and Streaming Media technology are studied deeply and realized in our system.
