The Three Gorges is an area where has geological disaster frequently. As a result of the hazardous nature and the burst characteristics of geological disaster, people need to find ways to solve problem and handle disaster accurately and quickly. Therefore, to make a decision support system based on the Internet is very important for leaders and related department. Landslide and avalanche is the main form of geological disaster in Three Gorges. The construction of roads (especially highway), railroad, and bridge and so on will bring more slopes, if those slopes lose stability, there will be a huge disaster. So, the research on the slopes plays an important part in the work of preventing and controlling geological disaster in the Three Gorges.From the viewpoint of developing a decision support system, we do research on the slope type and the possible destruction pattern. A decision support system of stability evaluation for the Slopes in Three Gorges has been established. This system is base on various experts' experience and literature knowledge, using B/S structure. Its function is analyzing slope stability and providing control plans.The first paragraph of this paper briefly introduced the background and significance of this research, and introduced the concept, developing history and elementary knowledge of decision support system. Then, it introduced the intelligent decision support system and the community decision support system that develop from the traditional decision support system. Finally, it introduced elementary knowledge and characteristic of B/S system structure in Web application procedure.The second paragraph presents the system demand analysis, researched on the system function, and produced the system workflow, according to the characteristic of the slopes in Three Gorges.The third paragraph introduced system design principles, analyzed the technical route which should be followed by in the system development, including mentality of intelligent decision-making and community decision-making, four database together, visualization of calculating process and result, equalization design of client and server and so on. And then it summarized the system structure. At last it give thesystem workflow and flowchart.Finally, this paper analyzed the characteristic and functions of expression level, function level and data level. The realization of decision-making module was mostly emphasized.
