In this thesis, a display system in video and audio decoder based on the video partof the AVS1.0 is designed by Top-Down IC design method. The display system ismade up of the three modules, the loop filter, the reference store and the displayfeeder. The loop filter may improve the display picture for the block effect, and theunrestricted movement vector technique is realized by the reference store, and lots ofvideo display standards and format are back in the display feeder, such asSMPTE296M, SMPTE274M, ITU-R BT.656-4 (CCIR-656), CEA-861-B, and so on.The display system is designed according to the video part of the AVS1.0, but it still isused for the video decoder based on the H.264. So not only the video display systemis flexible but also it gets a broad future. The system specification, compartmentalization and design of sub modules, logicsynthesis, formality, functional simulation, etc. are described in detail in this thesis. The number of components is reduced as few as possible since the reduction of areaand power consumption of the chip is taken into prior consideration in the design. Atthe same time, resource sharing is fulfilled and the control part is simplified.Especially, the research and optimization of the design of the system pipelineoperation are emphasized. As a result, the clock number of processing one MB do notoverstep 610 cycles without modifying the functions. This project is one part of the AVS1.0 financed by the JDL of the Institute ofComputing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and belongs to the HI-TechResearch and Development Program of China (863 Program). The author isresponsible for the video display system in the video decoder specification, compartmentalization and design of sub modules, logic synthesis, formality andfunctional simulation. Design tools of Synopsys incorporations are used. The chips ofthis type of the video and audio decoder have been successfully fabricated in SMIC,Ltd in Nov., 2004 and the chip has been successfully tested in the same year. Now theproject is applied in the research and development of the video and audio SOC of theHD TV set-top-box. The achievement of this project would promote the developmentof ASICs, IC system integrations and the digital video and audio display system.
