Because of its visual information function, geographic information system(GIS) has become the development trend of computer information system. Through analysing the mode of GIS and GIS integration, the thesis analyses the fabric of the management system of built residential estate and designs the management system of residential estate. The GIS platform is MapInfo, which manages the spatial data of system. The property data is managed by the SQL Server database. VC++ is used to be development language . The call of MapInfo's GIS function is realized through OLE Automation and the SQL Server database is controled by using the communications interface of ADO .The system design includes system principle of design, overall structure, functional design, database design, algorithm design and interface design. The system function design is carried out according to user's demand, and reserves interface for the system function expansion. System database design mainly solves the establishment of spatial database and property database as well as the connection relations between them. The system algorithm is designed for pipeline's cross and lengthwise section. The system interface is designed for supplying clients with friendly and convenient man-machine interactive interface. The system software design and the realization mainly includes the structure pattern of software and correspondence realization between all kinds of software. The system structure pattern is Client/Server. Correspondence realization between all kinds of software in the system refers to correspondence between VC++ and Maplnfo, VC++ and MapBasic, Maplnfo and MapBasic ,VC++ and SQL Server. The residential estate, all buildings, pipelines, valves, inhabitants are organized and managed. The system functions include data input, output, query, browse, statistics, bidirectional query of property data and spatial data, and the management of fee, litigation and repair events within residential estate.
