Recently, with the rapid development of Internet, the World Wide Web (Web or WWW) not only becomes the principal information resource, but also becomes the core of web education. The research of web-based system of teaching has obtained a general and effective acquisition, but currently it still has a few problems: such as how to build a general, effective and widely-used web-based system of teaching; how to integrate information portal system into web-based system of teaching and how to improve the decision-making of web-based system of teaching. In order to solve these problems, at first the web teaching, portal theory and Chinese text segment theory are studied and analyzed deeply according to the particularity of graduate teaching, then the portal theory and Chinese text segment theory are integrated into the field of graduate web teaching, at last a concept Graduate Web Teaching Portal (GWTP) has been put forward and a software model of GWTP is designed in this paper. The portal management system (PMS), content management system (CMS), graduate teaching information service system (GTISS), multiple data source full-text retrieval system and grading-assistant system based on full-text retrieval schema are analyzed and designed with UML. GWTP is implemented based on Java platform, B/S three-tier architecture and database connection pool. The software model of GWTP and the process to analyze, design and implement GWTP is described in detail in this paper. The aim of this paper is to solve some applied problems and in the mean while to accumulate some experience for applying system. This paper does not have a great significance only in the applied science but also in the theoretical research.
