With the WLAN being used more and more, how to make full use of existing wire networking becomes a hot point in the fields of the networking application when wireless networking is deployed. APs can be used to connect the wire networking with the wireless networking, so the existing wire networking will be made full use of by applying APs when a wireless networking is built. Designing AP device with strong functionality, flexible configuration and high security will play key role to popularize the application of wireless networking.On such background, referenced to advanced techniques and experiences in home and abroad, this paper explores AP technique in depth. Through analyzing and comparing the existing AP products, against some existing problems, the paper puts forward and introduces some new resolution thoughts and schemes that are to apply mobile IP to AP design, to design and implement embedded AP device based on MultiTask! OS kernel, to employ WPA technique to enhance security mechanism and provide authentication function. The paper's specific work mainly includes the following: Study on the existing AP systems, analyze their characteristics, vantages and problems and put forward some schemes for solving these problems. Design and implement AP system software based on the integration of the MultiTask! OS kernel and USNET protocol stack.Explore application of SNMP to AP device, design and implement AP device SNMP agent and its special MIB, and supply the management station with more convenience for accessing variables and tables of AP device. Probe mobile IP by examing RFC2002~2004, design and implement a simple prototype of the mobile IP framework. Research encryption and authentication mechanism, design AP security framework, with reference to IEEE802.11 i standard. Test AP device prototype for realized functions, and analyze the results.
