The address book contains personal relevant information (such as name, telephone number etc.). To avoid input and modification of address information on many terminals repeatedly, this paper designs a SyncML-based mobile unfied address book system. SyncML is XML-based data synchronization protocol, it makes various terminal equipments and application servers to be able to synchronize data in the same way. On the basis of the data synchronization protocol -SyncML, this unfied address book system is realized through open-source project Sync4j. In the server side a LDAP server is used to contruct address book database and an address book manage module is implemented based on B/S mode. The synchronization strategy is also modified and JAAS-based authentication extension is implemented in order to authenticate users by LDAP account information. Finally, address book client supporting data synchronization is realized by J2ME tool. This paper implements data synchronization through SyncML, thus the address book data can be exchanged between mobile terminals and network application servers, furthermore every kind of terminals can be synchronous with the server to access completely consistent personal address book information.
