Using very low duty cycle narrow pulse as a carrier to transmit information, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) with a high transfer rate, low power spectral density is very suitable for the current rapid development of wireless internet and multimedia communications requirements. UWB is characterized by confidentiality, low power consumption and anti-multipath fading capability, and does not take up additional spectrum, fully compatible with existing wireless communication systems coexist. How to develop ultra-wideband receivers with good performance, which is one of the difficulties of ultra-wideband technology to be fast faced by large-scale application when UWB has so many advantages.This paper focuses on UWB receiver algorithm. After full understanding of the basis of UWB communication system, we can get testing and practical basis for further simplify the structure of UWB receiver and reducing system complexity through researching an energy detection algorithm for the practice.This paper mainly concentrates on te following aspects:(1) The basic concept of UWB, A brief introduction to clarify the ultra-wideband communication system and the corresponding features.(2) Describe the IEEE 802.15.3a UWB channel model, launched pulse shape and pulse modulation. After simple introducing coherent and autocorrelation receiver, give an overview of all digital receiver situation.(3) PPM modulation and OOK modulation of the energy detection receiver performance is analyzed. Theory and simulation show that the increased SNR, PPM modulation advantages compared to OOK modulation decreased.(4) Detailed description of the algorithm of energy detection receiver Implemented on the FPGA, from the integration interval length, energy peak search, synchronization and data demodulation are introduced. The processing of the transmitter is also briefly introduced. Through testing, the system showes good performance, and we verify the correctness of the algorithm.
