With the vigorous evolution of mobile communication, the world wireless communication industries has developed new techniques on mobile, broadband, and IP. The whole industry has become more competitive. In order to compete with WiMAX, AWi-Fi and other new wireless broadband technologies and enhance the competitiveness in the new broadband access market, 3GPP starts their research of UMTS on Long Term Evolution (hereinafter for short as"LTE") technology which could help to transit smoothly from 3G to B3G and 4G.In according to the development and Standardization Process of the newest LTE Principle, on the basis of the actual work I have done in LTE Terminal Product researching and designing, this thesis introduces the main technique principles and guides of the application. Fistly,This paper starts with a brief introduction of the startup background of the LTE, provides the LTE's requirement target and advantages compared with other technologies and shows the research purpose of the article. Secondly, describes the LTE network's structure and some main interfaces emphatically, including the structure of EUTRAN,the opponent of the EUTAN than UTRAN, the divide of internal fuction ,the user and control planes of S1 and X2 interface,and the radio interface protocols of LTE.Thirdly,the paper provides specific explanation on physical layer and functions of LTE,inclding the content of Physical layer data transmission, Physical signal and transmission channel, Frame Structure, physical layer Uplink/Downlink, Physical layer model and Physical layer measurements . Nextly,it discusses deeply on main popular key techniques of the LTE technology , including of the technology of Downlink OFDMA,Uplink SC-FDMA MIMO and MBMS.Finally this thesis gives us a prospect of the development trend with the LTE-A technique which is the evolution of the LTE.All above the discuss and research LTE technology and promoted ,must give other engineers who are also working on researching and developing the terminal products. Besides that, we expect more products satisfied the LTE standard will be on the market and service for our people.
