With the quick growth of the capacity and quality requirements, the technologies in wireless communication domain grow rapidly. OFDM can resist frequency selective channel by converting it to flat fading channel in frequency domain. MIMO can use the space-multiplexing diversity efficiently to boost the system throughput. MIMO-OFDM system, which combines the two technologies, can improve channel capacity and robustness of wireless communication system.This project is to develop MIMO-OFDM communication system, which is designed using software radio theory. The hardware system framework is designed using FPGA and DSP. In this dissertation, data processing for MIMO-OFDM system is implemented on DSP. Two TMS320C6416T DSPs are used to solve data processing problem after the estimation of resource. The flow of data processing and work divided of two DSPs are made out. Test of individual module and combine debugging are implemented. After optimization of DSP program, the system meet demands.In the second part of the dissertation, System framework and scheme of MIMO- OFDM system is introduced first. Then, data processing in transmitter side and receiver side are depicted. Scheme of mapping of sub-carrier and framework of system are introduced respectively in details.In the third part of the dissertation, the transmitter, receiver and DSP implementation are introduced separately. Resources estimation and allocation are introduced firstly and data processing flow is designed. How to implement MIMO-OFDM algorithm on TI TMS620C6416T using C language and optimization of DSP programme are described. Test of the program on the DSP indicates that the programme optimized is correct and can meet the demand of real time. The key points of DSP software implementation are also introduced. The complexity of fixed point DSP is analyzed. MIMO-OFDM is implemented on DSP.In the fourth part, after combine debugging, test of indoor wired small signal and test through channel-simulation machine in indoor enviroment are impletmented separately. The result of implementation meet designed requirement. The design of this project can improve the transmit rate of this communication system. The project has been checked and accepted by experts.The last part of this dissertation is the summarization of the whole dissertation and future work is pointed.
