WiMAX has been accepted as a 3G standard since 2007. Until today it has been used in manycountries and regions. There are more than one hundred WiMAX networks that have beendeployed in the world and the user are over ten million. Therefore, WiMAX equipmentdevelopment has a very good commercialization prospect. It is impossible to deploy the WiMAXnetwork nationwide in China when the third general communication system has been incommercial operations already. But as the 3G supplement, it has a big room to exploration. It hasbeen remaining a serious challenge posed on emergency communication associated with frequentemergencies and natural disasters in recent years. It becomes an urgent matter to set up a newemergency communication system which can adapt environment needs with strong and high bandwidth. WiMAX is one of the leading technologies comparing with the other 3G technologies. TheWiMAX technology can meet the emergency communication system's need very well. This thesisis mainly about WiMAX equipment development and key technologies on WiMAX networkbuilding. It covers the following issues:1. Design, improvement and simulation of the mandatory contention resolution which is basedon truncated binary exponential backoff algorithm; Introduction of the calculations of performancemetrics such as the utilization of transmission opportunity, the delay of bandwidth request and thedrop probability of bandwidth request; Proposal and simulation of an truncated binary exponentialbackoff algorithm with Adaptive window size.2. Study on Access Control Algorithm in WiMAX. The Bandwidth Utilization which is veryimportant for the wireless communication system is based on admission control algorithm. In thispaper the author advances an admission control algorithm featured in preemption which is basedon game theory. Simulation results indicate that this algorithm can increase admission rate of realtimeservice and bandwidth utilization.3. Study on WiMAX Networking Technology. The link budget and the coverage area innetwork planning with appropriate wireless channel dissemination model are studied. The keypoint is the calculations of up link budget, cover estimate, reference speed under plot edge and thecoverage area in different application scenarios.4. WiMAX equipment development and the network's experiment. The correspondingoutfield test have been carried out based on 802.16e agreement. Measurement and analysis of the parameter of data throughput, transmission latency and jitter on IP emergency systems in NLOSscenarios conducted.
