With the development of information technology(IT) and modern shipbuilding mode of propulsion, the domestic shipbuilding enterprises are faced with the challenge of combining information technology with shipbuilding.'Information'is becoming the largest word in the twenty-first century. Ship-painting is the important part of shipbuilding, which throughouts the entire production cycle. However, the extent of introducing IT into this region is far from enough, significantly affecting the whole term.Currently, this work is undergoing like a raging fire in some domestic ship factories. IT frame and software platform have already been established. Ship Painting Design Management Information System designed by NAOE of HUST has covered the part of Ship-painting Production Design. More work should be done on calculating painting-areas and collecting statistic information.First, this thesis will conduct an investigation on ship-painting techniques, divide the entire work into various stages, elicit the process of Ship-painting Production Design, analyze the data stream and adopt the Functional Model with IDEF0 method to find out the weaknesses of the process and set a target for our design. Then, with the existing IT architecture and improved algorithm of calculating areas, we adopt Oracle as Database Management System and use the technology of Struts and Hibernate to develop this B/S system based on MVC mode. Finally, the testing will be carried out with related-data and corresponding conclusion coming along.With myeclipse6.0.1 as developing platform, tomcat as Web Server, object-oriented programming design as design idea. in order to meet the requirements of the existing system, Painting-Cabin and components are defined and the inputting form of components'data is unified. The former calculation algorithm is improved so that the system can deal with more complex components and calculate the intersection of a component and a convex to get the relationship between components and cabin. In the process of statistics, manual-correction way is used to calculating the existing areas to ensure that the system has good flexibility.
