Wireless sensor network(WSN)is a network system self-organized by devices which have sensor and communication function. It sends the data which was collected by the widely distributed sensor nodes to the observer. Sensor nodes in WSN are usually resource restricted,and the surroundings where WSN deployed is difficult of access for human beings,management and maintain in WSN is a hard work. So it is needed to provide a stable, reliable, safe service and efficiently energy consumption network manage system for WSN. As WSN is largely different from the traditional network, so the traditional Network Management Protocols are not suitable for it. This thesis analyze features in WSN, and describe the problems on in the management,operating and the maintaining of the WSN, based on the practical application of the WSN and mainly concerning the network management, the thesis researched some key technologies in network management. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:(1) This thesis provides information of the development of the wireless sensor network, concerning the difficulties and problems existing in the network management and analyze the challenges of the network manager are going to face. We also describe the functional requirement of the wireless sensor network and the typical network management architecture, and detailed several network management protocols in WSN and evaluate those protocols.(2) Topology management is an important issue in the wireless sensor network management. A well-organized topology structure can reduce the energy consumption and communication jamming and increase efficiency of the route. Based on the analysis of LEACH protocol, we propose a load balancing topology control algorithm. We select the cluster head node using competency evaluation function, which reducing the broadcast messages that produced by selection of cluster head. In addition, we exploit the concept of standby cluster head, which avoid the re-election of cluster head after cluster head failure.(3) Sometimes the function of the wireless sensor network has to be redefined, but the nodes already settled are not convenient to callback, and the nodes are always in a large amount, in that circumstances, the code should be distributed to each node and be reprogrammed. There are many code distribution protocols, but few of them had considered security as a problem during the code distributing process. This thesis studies the MOAP,Deluge,MNP,Trickle code distribution protocol and the security protocol Hybrid, brings out improvement opinion about how to deal with the inability of the Hybrid defending DOS attack, propose the hierarchical encryption key management method, which efficiently solves the problem of Hybrid only depending on the base station to accomplish digital signature, preventing the invasion/damage during the code distribution, and ensure the security of the code distribution process.(4) We designed a highly efficient data collection and higher energy efficiency wireless sensor network management protocol, and also implement a wireless sensor network management system prototype based on ZigBee technology, which facilitate the users to effectively manage wireless sensor networks.
