As a new information medium, blog brings deep effect not only on human's life and thoughts, but also on the traditional media and traditional media theories. The arising of blog communication marks the emergence of the new media charactized with "mental share", instead of "information share". The new medium begins displaying the value of unlimited knowledge for the real. The value of blog's emergence isn't that it will completely overthrow or displace the traditional media, but that it will balance the relationship of the new and old media, and develop with them. Blog establishes the lowest threshold for bloggers in technique and cost, and enables more persons to use it. It draws lessons from the media logic of the existing tools of individual communications on network such as personal website and BBS. Blog combines the four communication functions including interpersonal communication, group communication, organizational communication and mass communication. It expands the concept of media and enters a time of "We Media". The related theories of media, mass communication and psychology are used in this article. The frame of the blog study is founded on blog medium, bloggers, and blog communication. It analyzes blog communicative characteristic and value from a series of content such as the origin and development of blog, it's new characteristics, the media value and commercial value and so on. As well as the blog as the spread of new media on the value of social development.
