Since the mid of 1960s, the information technology developed continuously, the scale of the rlational database system enlarged and the Number of the database user increased dramatically, all these have lowered the database application system's execution efficiency, and caused the database performance problem increasingly prominent. The optimization of database performance will be carried out mainly via three dimensions:hardware, database products and applications. In this article, we will use the Oracle 10g database as a example, based on Index, process the research of database system performance optimizing in the level of application. In this acticle, we worked specificly at three aspects belowed. The first, analyse belowed five database performance indicators:the database user response time, system throughput capacity, the usage of Memory, the hit rate of database, and the I/O measure of Disk, select the database user response time and system throughput capacity as the key indicators of this article's research; Introduce Oracle database M/M/m queuing performance models and related algorithm, analyse the relationship among code consume time Ts, system response time R and the probability P of that response time is below rmax (R
