Database performance problem determines the applicability of database. For some database application systems, the performance problem will come into being through a period of running. The problem maybe relates to the areas of database hardware, database server, application and network etc. There have been a lot of researches on performance tuning of computer, which is vital for reducing hardware cost and maintaining stable business transactions. This topic is mainly expatiating the application of database performance tuning in the upgrade project PG-EPL electric power load control system belonged to PingGao Group's from these aspects: database design tuning, client application tuning and server performance tuning etc. With the transaction quantity increasing, data expanding rapidly, system performance decreasing, it is not endurable for a long time to query. For these reasons, this system makes these tunings: using database opposite standardization, increasing redundancy row. It can decrease the number of tables and the query connection, improve query speed. By using reasonable index, SQL query optimize and stored procedure, it can optimize the query path, enhance query efficiency. By tuning the application it can avoid a great of low efficiency nesting query, ensure database system running high efficiently, remove bottle necks and save system recourses. After testing the tuned system, the query speed on client has been enhanced evidently in PG-EPL electric power load control system, CPU utilization is reduced 95% to 70%, data fed back from the computer terminals presents a more efficient and smooth system as business in hospital runs with speedy prescription and admission procedures. so it is up to the stable standard and the system integrated performance enhanced evidently.
