The data recorder record the important parameters of the measured objects, such as altitude, speed, running track and other informations which play an important role on the research of the measured objects.Currently, the most common approach to search the black box is still to paint bright colors, help people find it out in time.However, the search officers often failed because of the uncertainty of the landing point and the diversity of geographical xinditions. Therefore, it's very critical for us to find the position after the data recorder landing.A position system for the data recorder which is based on GPS and Compass system was designed in this article.The following aspects of this paper were proposed:1) This thesis introduces GPS/Compass positioning technology and GPRS communications technologies which include working principles, characteristics and system structures;2) The hardware platform based on ARM was built and the appropriate operating system was also customized;3) The design of hardware and software were introduced;4) Describes the resulta of the positioning system, at the same time the experimental error was analysied in this paper, the impact of transmission power at the different distances between land surface and GPRS module was disscused too.This equipment choosed the S3C2440A as the controller in order to composed the embedded microprocessor system, using GPS and Compass system to locate the black box and sending its temporal informations to the control center by using GPRS after we got the postions. The system is low power, easy to use, positioning accuracy can reach 0.5 meters, the time of acquisition the satellites is 0.1 seconds, so it can be used in the flying objects whose speed is lower than 550 meters per second. Using the microprocessor system, we can reduce the development cycle and costs, at the same time it can be used in a variety of occasions for its good portability.
